The way I was treated as a disabled customer is alarming. On holiday, walking the canals. Happy as Larry. I arrived in Wigan at 5am and decided to walk to Tesco to order breakfast, coffee, do some shopping eg food and water before returning to the canal. Not all disabilities are visible. Decided to use the toilet first then eat & shop. To find myself policed by the staff. Assuming, i was a homeless person. Potentially taking drugs because I had a shopping trolley with camping equipment. They kept knocking on the door. After a couple of knocks. I stated "I was getting changed & wouldn't be long". To over hear, a member of staff. I believe. Say, "it always takes one!' To continue knocking at various points throughout. Rushing me. Causing me to stand on my glasses bending the arm. I have arthritis in both shoulders. A shopping trolley. That takes time to sort. The sink tap gives you half a handful of ice cold water at a time. The toilet was dirty. From the previous customer. I felt obligated to leave the toilet clean and tidy. Not wanting people to assume it was me. Slowing me down. While trying to put clean clothes on. Yet they kept knocking and knocking on the door throughout my entire visit to the toilet. Rushing me. Despite, I had verbally stated". I was getting changed & wouldn't be long". Before they then sent a male member of staff to knock on the door with cleaning products in his hand. Implying they wanted to clean the toilet. I was using. By which time, I was so upset. I told them I had bowel problems. Needed to change. For staff to claim people had been reporting to them they could not use the toilet "because someone was in there already". Which, was not believable. Who determined their need of the toilet I was on. Was greater than mine? As opposed to the other way around? If it had been in use on my arrival I would have had to use another toilet. Not 'complain". So, I went to customer service to make a complaint of my own. I was agitated, felt unable to order any food. As a direct result. To have the female from the toilet try to engage with me. When, I'm trying to complain about her. Telling her I wasnt talking to her. So she walked off. The two staff at customer service did what they could. Requested someone to take my complaint. To find me, not them apologising. About how upset i was & over my damaged glasses, left unable to eat or shop there, now! I was told I would have to wait for an unknown period of time for someone. So, I said I would go outside & try and chill out. For the staff to then come out to me.q soon after. Acompanied by a security guard. Insisting I go back inside the store! My toilet problems all out in the open, in public with up to 6 staff involved. Including the security guard. Despite, stating I wanted to calm down.. All I got was lies and excuses for policing my time on the toilet eg Saying, "They have an obligation to conduct a welfare check". When I stated verbally I was getting changed... for her to THEN send a man to knock on the door to ramp up the pressure. When, I had arrived. There was no need for any concerns about my welfare. Until I left the store. Recognising the staffs attitude was basically because they thought I was a homeless person. Potentially taking drugs. Just because I had a shopping trolley with my stuff in it. There was no chance of getting my complaint/ side of the story documented. Instead, risked escalating. As a direct result. Also, made me feel they didnt believe I was a geniune customer. Hence the security guard. So, I told her to forget it. I was so frustrated. I concluded to state, "I would just put my complaint on a google review". She replied, "just do that then". Which is an idea of the contemptus attitude of the staff. I am a clubcard user. With a registered address in Stoke-on-Trent. On record with Tescos. I go to supermarkets all the time. To use the toilet, get changed, eat and shop & I have NEVER been treated so apaullingly. Leaving me in a lasting negative emotion state for the rest of the day I spent visiting Wigan. Now with damaged specs.

The only thing that lets this cafe down is the constant dragging and loud scraping of the chairs. Surly rubber feet wouldn’t be too much of an ask, it’s so loud and frustrating.

Tescos have gone the "extra" mile with the new look cafe, massive improvement on the previous facility. Stopped in after a food shop while the storm showers passed over.
